I
am an English academic and until 2004 worked as Professor of Public
Health medicine in Papua New Guinea.
My previous working life has been spent in the UK and Zambia as
an academic, as a GP and in service Public Health with the NHS.
Medicine has given me exciting opportunities to enjoy a career spanning
Primary Care, Service public Health and Academic Public Health in
England, Africa and the South Pacific.
There has been the good fortune to develop some experience and a
few skills in the

of Health Services
Specialist
commissioning of hi-tech services
Health
Care Planning
Communication
and Teaching at many levels from the lay person to the postgraduate
student
Academic
service work-preparation, teaching, motivating and examining
Control
of Communicable Diseases in man
Applied
research into service need, service audit and evaluation
It has been important to retain a firm base
in clinical practice In Primary care, Occupational Health and Hospital
Medicine
My present post reflects an eagerness for Public Health Medicine in
developing countries and to enthuse tomorrow's doctors with the vision.
